Sept. 1 Bark in the Park
The Reading Phillies will once again open the gates to canine companions Wednesday, Sept. 1, for a Bark in the Park event. Gates open at 6 p.m., game starts at 7:05. The dogs will only be allowed in the pool picnic area. Tickets are $16 per person and include a 2.5 hour buffet of barbecued ribs, barbecued chicken, hot dogs, baked ziti, barbeque sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, corn on the cob, pasta and potato salad and Pepsi products. Visit www.rphils.com for more details.

Sept. 11 Pet Supplies Plus Annual Doggie Dash and Walk
The annual Pet Supplies Plus Doggie Dash and Walk will be held, Saturday, Sept. 11, at Nolde Forest in Cumru Township. Registration is $20 in advance and includes race T-shirt and goodie bag filled with coupons and products. Pre-registration deadline in Aug. 30. Registration is available the day of the event, but goodie bags are not guaranteed. Go to the Breakaway Sports website to register or for more details. The event benefits the Animal Rescue League of Berks County.

Sept. 18 Wine and Swine
Wine and Swine will be held Saturday, Sept. 18 at Long Trout Winery in Auburn, Schuylkill County, from noon to 4 p.m. The event is held in memory of Christian Moses Weikel and benefits the Animal Rescue League of Berks County and the Greater Berks Food Bank. Tickets are $15 each and includes pig roast, two side dishes, a roll, drink and dessert. There will be silent and Chinese auctions. Sept. 25 33rd Annual Walk for the Animals and Walktoberfest
On Saturday, Sept. 25, the Humane Society of Berks County will holds its annual Walk for the Animals and Walktoberfest at FirstEnergy Stadium, Centre Avenue (Route 61), Reading. Registration for the walk is $20 for adults and $10 for those age 17 and younger. Registration fee includes a T-shirt. The Walk Route is .8 or 1.3 miles. Walktoberfest is free and open to the public. It will feature live music, children's activities, vendors and canine contests. Sept. 26 Bow Wow & Meow
On Sunday, Sept. 26, Bow Wow & Meow will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Riverfront Park in Pottstown. Jennifer Gilbert and Trisha Metz are holding the gathering to benefit the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Admission is free, but vendor fees will be given to the PSPCA. Businesses can reserve a vendor space for $40, with $20 refundable if the vendor has 10 guests attend according to Metz. Vendors are also being asked to donate an item for raffle.

Oct. 2 Fall Rodent Fest
The Fall RodentFest will be held Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Leesport Farmers Market, Route 61 in Leesport, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A variety of rodents will be for sale and shows will held.
